Hartman Construction was started in 1984 as a one man operation working from a garage. Since then we have grown with a reputation for honesty and fair policies in the Des Moines, Iowa area. We specialize in kitchen cabinet refacing, kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, roofing, siding, gutters, and window replacement.
The quality of our kitchen remodeling is 2nd to none. We spend hours planning out the style and design and then even more time executing on our strategy. Linda Hartman, our "In House" Certified Interior Designer can help you with your project and make your project into a "Designer Remodel". We can do computer designs so they can be printed in "3D".
This photo is a refacing job done in the rural area of Des Moines, Iowa. We re-face cabinets on any home within roughly a 50 mile radius of Des Moines, Iowa, and have been re-facing cabinets for 37 years. When we reface cabinets, first we measure your doors. Each new door is then made by the highest quality craftsmen to the exact size for your cabinets.
You can have custom made cabinets for your kitchen remodel at a cost not much more than store manufactured cabinets. We put our heart and soul into selecting and/or designing the perfect set of cabinets for your kitchen. For our custom cabinet boxes, we use 3/4 veneer plywood on the sides, tops, bottoms, adjustable shelves, and back.

Ken and his crew were great - the job finished on time, we had as much use of our kitchen as possible at the end of each work day, and they were very responsive to our questions and requests. And - our kitchen project turned out STUNNING! We absolutely love it.

I have the most beautiful roof on the block! They stuck to the estimated cost which was very reasonable! They came in and took their time tearing off the old roof and replacing with new. The crew was polite and very hard working. I am very pleased. I look forward to having them back to replace siding and gutters as soon as the weather permits! Thank you, Hartman Construction!

I started out out obtaining estimates to remodel our kitchen. Most of the vendors would sell cabinets or reface cabinets, but then required you to manage the rest of the project such as timing of other parts of the kitchen. Hartman's took care of the whole process from start to finish. It was very nice to have one person in control of the whole project because there are always things that come up that effect the timing of all parts of the project.
They initially come in and determine what you want done. If you need help making choices they will go with you to outside vendors to help you make your final choices. In our case we chose to have door replacement and have the cabinets repainted. They allowed us to choose the hardware for the cabinet doors and they installed them. We chose quartz countertops and they arranged for countertop vendor to come in at the appropriate time to install the countertop and install the sink we chose from another vendor.
The whole process went very smoothly. Hartman has highly trained workers who install the doors, hardware, and backsplash. They showed up on time, kept the area clean, and did what they promised. They followed up after completion to make sure everything was done properly. We are very happy how our kitchen turned out. It was done at a very competitive price and we would recommend them to others.

Hartman Construction remodeled our kitchen. To start the process, we appreciated that they came to our home a few times to give us ideas for the layout. We were very satisfied with their quality of work. Really good communication. Ken was usually at the work site or if not always answered his phone to answer questions or give us updates. They were flexible and easy to work with when unexpected changes came up. They charged a fair price. We are very pleased with our kitchen.

From sales, to owner and crew, the experience was great! The job was started and completed on time, and the finished kitchen was even better than I expected. Dave the foreman was amazing, he talked me through the progress every morning and was very professional and curtious. For the price, the customer service and quality, good looking product you receive you can not go wrong with Ken and Hartman Construction. I highly recommend.

We hired Ken and his crew to remodel two bathrooms. The master bath was a huge project that involved knocking out a wall to convert a closet into a walk-in shower, replacing a one-piece shower/tub unit with a jetted tub, and installing a window over the tub. We also had problems with our old shower leaking water into our basement and they quickly figured out how to resolve that issue.
We couldn't be happier with how our new bathrooms look! They did a great job! Dave told me he treats every project like he was doing the work in his own home, and it really shows. This was a big project, but they took their time and were very meticulous about getting everything done perfectly.
